As if Google Maps couldn’t get any better, they have now added a 4th view to their popular web app: traffic data. This is a wonderful addition to their lineup that will make life easier for commuters and travelers alike.
The feature was made available to mobile users in mid-2006, but has just recently become a part of their desktop application. The roads that are monitored contain green, red, and yellow sections, indicating normal traffic, some congestion, and heavy congestion respectively.
At this point in time, only the interstate is available in my city of Tucson. Hopefully this will be expanded to include other heavily-trafficked roads in the near future.
