Is it possible to go without our wonderful PCs, laptops, and the works for a full 24-hours? What would happen? Would the world blow up? Would we lose all the money in our bank accounts? Honestly, I’m not ready to find out.
The folks at Shutdownday.org have proposed that everyone in the whole world — yes, everyone — shutoff their computers on March 24, 2007. Why? It’s simply an experiment to see if we can cope.
It is obvious that people would find life extremely difficult without computers, maybe even impossible. If they disappeared for just one day, would we be able to cope?
Be a part of one of the biggest global experiments ever to take place on the internet. The idea behind the experiment is to find out how many people can go without a computer for one whole day, and what will happen if we all participate!
Shutdown your computer on this day and find out! Can you survive for 24 hours without your computer?
Luckily, they have chosen a Saturday for the infamous shutdown. If it were a weekday, I absolutely couldn’t participate because sacrificing my computer while at work is like sacrificing my job. Even so, I don’t have any motivation to participate. I’m sure it’s not that hard, but I don’t see what’s in it for me.
On March 24, I’m sure I’ll be happily blogging about all the people who aren’t using their computers.
