The computing superpower has let slip a fact that many have suspected for some time.  In a conference for the Annual American Association for the Advancement of Science on Friday, Google co-founder Larry Page hinted at the status of artificial intelligence currently in the works.

We have some people at Google [who] are really trying to build artificial intelligence (AI) and to do it on a large scale…It’s not as far off as people think.

Does this really come as a surprise?  The super-giant that has taken the world by storm, who recruits only the best of the best and geekiest of all to work on its projects, would be my first guess as to which company is furthest along in AI.

My only fear is that all the power will get to their heads and bad things will come of it.  The Spiderman quote comes to mind: “With great power comes great responsibility”.  Here’s hoping they harness any new developments in order to ultimately be beneficial to mankind as opposed to detrimental.

What Page is talking about is inaccurate both Biologically and Technologically. [ http://www.searchme.co.in/2007/02/larry-and-me-not-on-same-page.html ]

That in itself is not surprising, what is shocking is the fact that the majority of the media/blogosphere seem to be accepting what he says implicitly. Frankly speaking his argument is a joke.
