Life Gem

Okay, this might sound a little creepy. But hear me out because maybe you’ll be interested.

Apparently, there exists a company called LifeGem that, using the carbon (”true essence”) from the cremated remains of your loved one, will create customized diamonds for you. In mathematical terms:

CARBONdiamond = CARBONGrandma’s flesh

A little weird, in my opinion, but I can see why someone who normally cremates their loved ones would go for it.

The company is also creating diamonds from the carbon of famous people. From the site:

To showcase our newest technology, we are creating three LifeGem diamonds with the carbon from Ludwig van Beethoven’s hair!

These will be the only three diamonds ever created from Beethoven’s carbon and could be considered the three most rare and valuable diamonds in the world.

If you’re filthy rich and superstitious, maybe you should buy one of these to see if it improves your musical abilities. I’m neither, so I’ll pass.

Ok, I have to say that’s a creepy way to remember someone you loved. I’d rather wear a locket with a picture or something like that. I don’t know how much these cost - but I think since you are providing the carbon it should be cheaper than a normal CZ ring (though a rather morbid way to get cheap jewelry), but I bet it’s pretty expensive just for the novelty of it.
