Here is a handy tool for those who have trouble staying within their monthly cell-phone minutes. From Lifehacker:
Freeware system tray app WatchMyCell logs into your cell phone account and keeps a watchful eye on how many minutes you’ve used for the month . . . set it up with your provider (currently supports Cingular, Verizon, T-mobile, Sprint, and Nextel), then define your rules for how soon you’d like to be alerted of your dwindling minutes and what form you’d like that alert to take (email or SMS).
My problem in the past has been using far less than my allotted minutes simply because I was unsure of how many I had left and I didn’t want to get hit with any huge charges. It sounds like this program would have helped me. Now I enjoy rollover minutes, so I don’t worry nearly so much about the exact number of minutes I’m using.
It’s amazing the cell phone providers don’t supply handy software like this. Go figure.
