I currently live in the desert, so wet shoes haven’t been much of a problem for me lately. However, I grew up in the mountains and I lived in Puerto Rico for two years, so I have experienced my share of sodden shoes from snow and tropical storms. A tip that I learned in Puerto Rico was to stuff my shoes with newspaper; you’d be amazed at how much liquid it can absorb. Just remember to replace it with fresh, dry newspaper 2 or 3 times a day. Doing this will allow those soppy kicks to dry at least twice as fast as they would normally.

Or, if you would rather spend your hard-earned money on something that will accomplish the same thing, this new gadget may be for you. Gizmodo is featuring this dryer that pumps air through tubes on which you can place your shoes and gloves. Assuming it’s warm air, it seems like a promising tool. However, it will set you back $95 and it’s yet another oddly-shaped item to find storage space for during the spring and summer months. I’ll opt for the newspaper.
