CrunchGear has done some heavy-duty digging around to secure some very eye-opening information. Their info is based on a recent FCC application and inside sources. First off, it is confirmed that a Zune phone will be a reality and will be officially announced by Microsoft before St. Patrick’s Day (March 17).
- 4G communication (lightning-fast! iPhone will be 2G), built on Sprint/Nextel’s confirmed upcoming 4G WiMax network
- Similar to Zune media player, with brown color/interface
- Share music via WiMax! No more proximity limitations
Apparently a separate, unknown company has been developing the phone for awhile as an Apple iPhone competitor. But with the recent announcement of the iPhone, Microsoft has decided to scoop them up and get the product out the door as soon as possible.
