I can’t count the times that I’ve wanted to simply copy and paste some text from a web page or document into an email but it came out like this, all formatted and colorful and with hyperlinks.

More often than not, you just want the text. Period. You want it to follow the style of the rest of your email or blog post.

PureText is an extremely useful program that will convert formatted text on your Windows Clipboard into plain ASCII text. I realize, now that I’ve found it, that this is something I’ve needed for a very long time. I’m very tired of opening notepad, pasting the text, and re-copying it in order to get rid of the formatting. And the only application that I know of that does something similar is Word, where you can choose ‘Paste Special’ and paste only unformatted text. But, since not every program has that option, PureText will take care of it for you.

I have it setup to convert the text and paste it into any program when I press <windows key>-V. It’s as simple as that.
